Thanks for this - I think this is ready for salvis to have a peak and commit it when he returns from his vacation.

The change is correct, but I still can't get the pager to show up. Does it actually work for you?

Yes, pager appeared on our site with 7.x-1.0 version after applying the changes from patch. And it should fix the problem on 7.x-1.x, there are not too much changes between them.
