Hello,

I am not sure if this is how it is supposed to be working, but i wanted to mention it because I was expecting a different behavior than the one i saw.

1. Under admin/config/system/subscriptions/userdefaults i've enabled the 'Hide the Overview page from your users'
2. Gave the 'Subscribe to content types' permission to the role I wanted to have it
3. 'Subscribe to content' permission disabled

I would expect, by doing the above, the user to have 'Subscriptions' under 'My Account', but he does not. I would expect to see 'Content Types' only with the above combination, since I am not interested to have 'Pages/Threads' for my users.

If i enable the 'Subscribe to content' permission however, then 'Subscriptions' appear under 'My Account' with 'Pages/Threads' and 'Content Types'.

Am i missing something here? The 'Subscribe to content types' permission does not have a description below it so I can not figure out if this was meant to work like this.

Hi - "Subscribe to content" permission is indeed required to be able to "Subscribe to content types". To me this makes sense as "Subscribe to content types" is really "Subscribe to content of a specific content type".

I see. Isn't it possible however to have a separate permission in order to hide the Pages/Threads or are they necessary for the Content Types to work?

It's true that the permissions are not exactly orthogonal, but we've gotten used to that.

The "subscribe to content" permission is modeled after the "access content" permission. It's the basic permission, and "subscribe to content types" builds upon it.

Maybe a quick description under the 'subscribe to content' permission would be a nice idea in case any new users are wondering (or they can just search for this post heh)

I'd rather add an explanation to 'subscribe to content types' as you originally suggested.

The permissions need some tuning anyway...
