I think the preferred method to add allow users to subscribe to a node they are entering would be in the form for admin/settings/content-types for the particular type.

but i think the way it is being done for this module would be to select types to omit in the admin/settings/subscriptions - but as far as i can tell this doesn't work either (and why would you have the form as the negative (i.e. omit). wouldnt it make more sense to select the types you want to allow subscriptions to??

all my types get the subscriptions collapsible fieldset when adding a node of that type - how do i turn this off?

ok, i see now.. it tracks comments... hmmm.. ok, well still seems wrong - why wouldn't i have a case where allow comments but don't want to allow subscriptions.

so what is the omit setting for? i case it removes types from the content types subscripition list where you sign up for ANY node of a certain type to be notified about.

maybe my use of this module is just not typical.. i don't need or want any of the auto subscribe, mass node entry , all node types subscription stuff.. i have a link that i theme on to nodes of a certain type that i want to be able to "track".. and actually i don't want to track comments.. i want to track child nodes being added - but that was a simple piece of code to check on submit of my child who is subscribed to the childs parent and then do the std subscriptions email thing
