Hi,
I am curious (I didn't look through it) how your module works.
Few days ago I wanted to do something, and I found this interesting tutorial,
where Chaos tools is used for multistep form: http://shvetsgroup.com/blog/multistep-registration-form-drupal%C2%A06
Although I didn't it yet (I was busy), this looks maybe like more modern/smarty way than using standard form api.
What do you think about that?
Thanks
Igor

sebasvdkamp commentedHi,
It really depends on what you need to do, and how much you are willing to code yourself.
Steps is based on the premise that you want to group Nodes. It doesn't (at this time) feature ways to implement regular Form API constructs. There is work being done to provide more extensive support for webforms; if webforms can do what you want, Steps will be able to put them in order and do a few handling tricks once the final form is submitted.
Steps isn't a toolset, it is designed to allow people without PHP experience, or without the desire to go into the code and edit things themselves, to set up a sequence of nodes.
If you are both capable and willing to dive into the code, the ctools solution offers more flexibility. If you want a web based ablity to manage the order of nodes, and in the future webforms, Steps delivers.
I hope this answers your question!
Regards,
Sebastiaan
