Can't be bothered to roll a patch, so;

edit - page.tpl.php

  <div id="head" class="clear-block">
    <div id="logo" class="clear-block">
      <a href="<?php print $base_path ?>" title="<?php print t('Home') ?>">
      <?php
      if ($logo) {?>
      <img src="<?php print $logo ?>" alt="<?php print t('Home') ?>" />
      <? } elseif ($site_name) {?>
      <h1 id="site-name">
        <? print $site_name; ?>
      </h1>
      <? } ?>
      </a>
    </div>
          <div id="search"><?php if ($search_box): ?><?php print $search_box ?><?php endif; ?></div>
          <?php if (isset($primary_links)) { ?><?php print theme('links', $primary_links, array('class' =>'links', 'id' => 'navlist')) ?><?php } ?>

  </div>
  <div id="shadow"></div>

Obviously the whole "search" line is new, nothing else is changed.

edit - style.css;

#search-theme-form {
  float: right;
  padding: 0.5em 0.5em;
}
#search-theme-form .form-item label {
  color: #FFFFFF;
}
#search .form-text, #search .form-submit {
  border: 1px solid #369;
  font-size: 1.1em;
  height: 1.5em;
  vertical-align: middle;
}
#search .form-text {
  width: 8em;
  padding: 0 0.5em;
}

The bottom two are already there, you only need to add "#search-theme-form" and "#search-theme-form .form-item label" anywhere you like, just thought it'd be a good idea to keep all the search stuff grouped together for ease of finding and changing etc...

Tuh durrrr! Well sort of anyways, I have my header background black, so the text above is specified as #FFFFFF; (i.e. white) so as a default you'd probably want to change this, it's only for the "Search this site:" text though, nothing else...

I added a modified version of the patch above.

Because the primary links are on the top, I moved the search to the bottom right of the top bar.
