Hello,

I would love to have the Preview Image of the SoundCloud Audio as one of the available Formatters in Views. This is ideal in a situation where you need to list a number of the available songs on the website and having them as SoundCloud players would slow down the website in cases where they are many.

Right now the only available Formatters available in Views for the SoundCloud file are;

  • Default (HTML Player)
  • Link to SoundCloud URI

This would really be helpful in situations where you have lots of SoundCloud songs and you need to keep the website running. A previous module, SoundCloud Media, used to do this but at the moment is only available in Drupal 7.

Please help with this feature request. I have attached a screenshot of what I mean with all this.

Hello guys,

Is there someone to help me with this?

This is functionality that would be great to have in this module. I not savvy with the coding but I would have added it myself to the module version I am running.

As noted in the other issue, getting the thumbnail image requires making a request to the SoundCloud API to an endpoint that requires authorisation.

In order to implement this we will need to use OAuth which requires registering a new application with SoundCloud. For a long time now, SoundCloud have disabled the registration of new apps so there is no way to request a client ID at this time.

This feature would only be available to those that already have a registered app which limits how useful this would be.

Due to this, I am not able to develop this feature.
