I am developing a website using v6 drupal instal. My client wants the ability to restrict a certain section off the site that will use a v.i.p generic login, she will hand this out on request so that users can log into the particular section and access restricted information. Can someone advise how best to do this as i am a novice with Drupal.

Hi Crasher!

You've posted this in a place that is designated for improving the Secure Login module, but what you're looking for is general advice. I would recommend posting this question in the Post-Installation help forums.

In the meantime, here is a lead: http://drupal.org/search/apachesolr_search/password%20protect?filters=ty...
That link was created by searching for "password protect" and then clicking "Project" under Filter by Type on the right hand side of the page. This gives you a list of modules you can install on your site that relate to protecting things with passwords.

Take care,
- Ryan

Thanks for your help with this. I have installed the Protected node module and edited the page in question which allows me to save a password, when i try to view the site as a normal user and click on the page in question all i get is 'this is a hidden page and requires login details to access', how do i go about having a login page which allows the user to enter a password to access the page contents? can you help further?

Regards

Paul

Hi Paul!

If there aren't any modules that do what you want to do, you could try making one, or posting a bounty for one in the paid services forums.

Another alternative is to just use the basic php password protection. You can find lots of tutorials by just searching the web for "php password protect".

Good luck!
