Currently when you use the Schema.org Event type the date fields are just text fields. It would be a lot easier for metatag editors to have a date picker available.

I have searched the issue queues for Schema Metatag and Metatag for anyone else asking this. Let me know if this should be on the Metatag module issue queue rather than here.

I suggest a different approach. It assumes that your events have a date field in the content area (hard to imagine otherwise). That means your editors have to enter the date twice, which is prone to errors and omissions.

Instead, configure the date in the Event schema’s global settings to use a token that pulls the data from your date field. Same for all the other event schema fields for that matter. You may not even have to give editors the power to input or alter schema data, actually.
