Provides integration between Drupal and SimpleSAMLphp (https://simplesamlphp.org/) to provide an Identity Provider (IdP) for SAML service providers (SPs).
Seeking new maintainer! It appears there is a small but stable set of sites utilizing this module, however I have never been 100% happy with the implementation, specifically the way in which we bootstrap Drupal. The initial commit was in 2015, and the single-sign-on landscape has grown and evolved since then. SAML is still in active use (particularly in academia) however other technologies (OpenID Connect, OAuth 2, etc.) are increasing in popularity and support.
Personally, I (@bradjones1) am working to standardize more on OAuth, which SSP can integrate with via OpenID Connect. Since SSO is "hard" and is a particularly sensitive security vector, I don't have the time to continue to commit to this project, sparse as it was to begin with.
If there is an active user of this module that can provide it the TLC it needs moving forward, I would love to chat with you. Alternatively, I suggest considering running SSP standalone, and integrating with it via a well-established auth provider protocol.
