Because rules is so conceptually rich, it could greatly benefit from some robust inline documentation. Part of the problem with the current handbook docs is they lack strong contextual clues to help the reader. So basically some advanced help would be sweet.

Yep, advanced help would be awesome! Just don't depend on it, but use it once it's there like views does.

This proved to be more of a challenge than I anticipated. Getting contextual information into rules is very difficult because the things that need explaining are the options. I guess I will mark this as closed unless some inspiration strikes me.
