Content publish issue with Rules

I set up the following Rule:

Event: After saving new content

Conditions: Content is of X type - User has x Role

Action: Publish the content

In content type publishing options, content doesn't get published automatically hence the need for this rule.

What's happening:

Node gets published but many fields have empty values (even when they were provided) such Body field, image attchments, taxonomy terms etc.

What am I doing wrong here?
