Hello, I hope this is the most appropriate place for this question. I'm wondering if there's a better description of what this module does. I've added a new field to a content type using the Role Reference. Users can select roles from the list. I'm wondering does this relate to their user roles on the site? For example, if a user selects "manager" as on option when creating content, do they get added to the "manager" user role? How, if at all, are these related?

Thanks so much for making this module!

No, rolereference does not perform this action. You could probably use Rules Module, triggering on node save of your content type and firing an action that used the value of this field if you are looking to do what you've described. I don't think that sort of thing could be done with straight config and might require a "Custom PHP Snippet" action, so you might be better off just writing your own hook_nodeapi implementation and writing code to do the role assignment based on field value in there.

This module is very similar in functionality to nodereference or userreference and does only what is in the description, "Adds a CCK field type for referencing user roles as a field in CCK content types."
