Have you tried implementing something similar for image nodes? I'm curious if the jsCropperUI library can be used for resizing image nodes on the fly (a feature folks have been asking for for a long time).

Yeah, this would definitely be possible, since node forms are even easier to edit than the user form is. But I think it's a job for a separate module, sometime in the not-too-distant future.
