Now that we'll be showing images from the latest case studies on the home page, we need to communicate some guidelines for the size of the image that gets shown that's uploaded from the showcase forum so it doesn't get stretched on the home page or take up too much space on the case study itself.

I think between 350-450px wide will be fine. Can we communicate this on the form?

kaakuu commentedWhere are / will be these case studies on the home page exactly?
Are these under Sites Made with Drupal or elsewhere in the homepage (where, under what heading)?
What will be the amount of accompanying text (currently no text under Sites Made) ?
IMHO, basic things to cover first are:
- images should be animated if and only if they are the only animation in the homepage
- images can either be small, static, and clearly showing the "brands" made with Drupal OR they can be actually wide, impressive, eye-catching and eye-candy.
Please see attachment which shows examples to make things very clear.

drumm300px is the ideal width. Larger is okay. Sticking to the grid is encouraged, https://infrastructure.drupal.org/drupal.org-style-guide/grid.html.

lisarex commentedThanks Drumm. How can we encourage/enforce 300px wide? Chris thought that imagecache had been approved for d.o but I can't find an issue, so perhaps not.

drummI sent this to gdemet, who is helping run the front page pipeline.

lisarex commentedI've written these Showcase guidelines now and they're on http://drupal.org/node/281920
The style and image guidelines exist as separate nodes so i've linked out to them.

drummI did a small edit, saying the first should be 300px and only providing suggestions for others. Something not-too-tall or detailed can take the full width.
