I updated to version 2.0-beta1 from 1.1 and now I get this error:

Warning: Call-time pass-by-reference has been deprecated in ... /Recommender.php on line 388

Should I uninstall 1.1 before installing 2.0?

fixed. the call-by-reference was a hack for #509424: too much memory consumption.
if it'll cause out of memory problem. just use the Drush script.
