SVD algorithm is in Mahout (SVDRecommender). Just integrate it in RecAPI.

Dan, is this a setting in mahout? Is it in one of the config files? Or is it only in D7 so far?

(Sorry to hit a closed thread, just want to see what this algorithm gets us)

You need to set 'algorithm'=>'svd' in RecAPI. The helper modules such as fivestar_rec should provide a form to change this, but now they don't. You need to manually change the RecAPI settings in fivestar_rec .
