Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone has found a scalable alternative to this module? We've been using it on our site for a while, and as our user-base and rating-count increase it becomes less and less usable (particularly on a shared host, where there's memory limits). The setup we're currently using:
* Run the full rebuilds offline on a development machine (takes about 2.5 hours).
* Upload those results to the live server.
* We then have a "recommender/checknew" that runs on the live server and makes predictions just for users that have rated things since the last run (full or checknew).
However, even the checknew is now having memory issues! I'm trying to get my host to up my memory limit again, but if it's already dying with 1,000 users & 25,000 ratings -- what's it going to do with 10k or 100k users?
Has anyone found any good alternatives to this? Maybe something that lives in a cloud and you pay a subscription to or something?
Figure I'd post here before I start my search...
Danithaca -- if this was the wrong place to post I'm sorry, I can post somewhere else!

danithaca commenteddon't think so. i'm working on a scalable implementation based on mahout. more details at http://michiza.com/blog/roadmap-recommender-api-module-and-helper-modules. i plan to get to it this summer, if no body will do it earlier.
