Invalid plugin module/type combination requested: module proxy and type processors

Everything works fine at the front end of the site. But each time we load a url from Geoserver proxy for Openlayers we get this error - Invalid plugin module/type combination requested: module proxy and type processors. We tried uninstalling proxy, cleared cache and also re built the registry.
