With todays ctools 7.x-1.0-rc2 (2012-03-17)
I found that the processor(s) were not registering or available from proxy_processors(), ctools_get_plugins('proxy', 'processors');
Looks like the tools API may have changed again?
I found that adding the following to proxy.module made things work as I believe are intended. The URLs get rewritten at least - which is what I wantd.
/**
* Inform CTools about plugin types.
*
* @return array
* An array of plugin types, keyed by the type name.
*/
function proxy_ctools_plugin_type() {
$plugins['processors'] = array(
'use hooks' => TRUE,
);
return $plugins;
}
I also had to flush the cache aggressively once that was added, but that's ctools for you...
drush cc all;
drush php-eval " ctools_include('plugins'); ctools_get_plugins_reset();"
I don't follow ctools development so I'm not sure this is the right approach - I'm just guessing by looking at the shape of the code.
But this is a nice small example module that I might find a handy way to learn how to use them (I've been making lots of tiny modules with tiny hooks instead until now, but knew I should be doing plugins instead)

thtas commentedJust for future googlers you need to get the latest dev version of the module to fix this.
