I have a view which shows no results for a given field even though that field contains text. It is clearly showing up as empty, because if I set 'No results text' within the view for that field then that text is shown.

This is a text field within a profile2 profile type. When I create other fields within this profile type, they don't show either. When I create a new profile type with an identical field, that doesn't show either. However when I create an identical field in one particular existing profile type, that field shows in views.

The field is 'Text' with widget 'Text field', with all default values (Plain text; max length 255; 1 value; not private). All users have permission to 'View any profile' of this type.

What could be going wrong? How can I diagnose this? I can't find any similar issues here.

I figured out the problem. I was using a view of type 'Profiles' but instead needed to use a view of type 'Users' and then, under 'Advanced', add relationships to the different profile types.
