When clicking administration panel of my phpbb forum,
http://localhost/forum/admin/index.php?sid=2bb135a97aaf848b86d544ae5516246b
It takes me back to a drupal page not found, and the resulting url: http://localhost/phpBB2
I was able to get to the administration panel to configure it upon initial install however.

arkepp commentedDid you remember to edit the phpbb.htaccess file before moving it to forum/.htaccess ?
Is this a recent copy from CVS?
bobzemuda commentedI just downloaded it for your site actually last night, so I'll assume it's the newest version. It's a completely fresh install of drupal and phpbb. I did see this: "If you did not name your directory forum you have to modify this file, replacing forum with whatever is appropriate." I did, however, name my directory forum. I did rename the .htaccess just before you responded, and I did notice that I could then manually login to the administration panel, so I gathered it was somehthing wrong in that file.
I noticed the RewriteBase section, and if it is assuming my direcotory is phpBB2, I changed from
#RewriteBase /
to
RewriteBase /forum/
that's obviously not the write change, however, as it's still heading for phpBB2.
Do I need to replace all instances of phpBB2 in .htaccess with forum?
Thank you for your help, and sorry for my obvious ignorance.
arkepp commentedRight, it's a bug in the documentation (not anymore). I was rewriting the .htaccess file while writing the tutorial and got confused myself.
Like you said, the .htaccess file refers to phpBB2. If you follow the tutorial then you need to rename these occurences to forum :)
arkepp commentedSorry about the double-post:
You probably want to comment out the rewritebase again too.
Please close the bug if you're satisfied :)
bobzemuda commentedwell, things are better for sure, as it at least takes me to the forum now instead of the phpBB2 page.
It just loops the forum when I hit administration panel, however, rather than taking me to the administration panel. I cleared my cookies thinking that might be an issue, but it was not.
arkepp commentedIs there a ...sid=... in the URL of the administration panel?
I've seen some minor variations here that make this tricky. Consider disabling the .htaccess-file (renaming it), doing what you need to do in the admin panel and then putting it back.
Leave the bug open anyway, I'll try to make it more robust when I have more time.
Note to self: Try to use redirect=admin/index.php to distinguish requests.
bobzemuda commentedyes, there is a sid=
Comment #8
bobzemuda commentedforgot to put this active again earlier
Comment #9
arkepp commentedI didn't really get anything like this.
Could you give me a copy of the URL where the error occurs?

arkepp commentedDid you set the rewrite base?
I have no idea why it doesn't work, sorry. I think you'll have to look at the URLs you're clickin on and compare with the rewrite rules yourself.
I'm not sure whether you could override them in the admin-directory, by adding a RewriteEngine = Off statement in an otherwise empty .htaccess file there.
arkepp commentedOops, I just saw that you said you had changed that. I think that's probably it.
In your configuration I don't think you need the base?
vonsko commentedhave same problem. i think maybe it's cause that phpbb want to log in to admin panel twice
http://xxx/phpBB2/admin/index.php?admin=1&sid=7bc5b94636bf94853d43d6a119d70b2a(htaccess disabled - panel working via this link)Comment #14
