Downgrding Sortable from 1.6.0 to 1.5.1 solves this issue (mostly).

We know we need to improve the design of the drag and drop area. This can improve the flickering effect and there is an issue for that.

The other part is a lib issue with 1.6.0. we downgraded to 1.5.1 on our projects and there is a PR pending on sortable.js. Thus postponing.
