PageKiwi under Reports in Drupal 11: problems grouped into settings, images, links and headings, each with how to fix it

This project is not covered by Drupal’s security advisory policy.

PageKiwi finds what's broken on your Drupal site before your visitors do: missing alt text, dead links, leftover test addresses, headings out of order and settings that quietly hurt you. Every finding is in plain English and says where to click to fix it. It's written for the people who look after a site without being developers: a club secretary, a town clerk, a shop owner.

Features

Press Check my site at Reports, PageKiwi, and it looks at:

  • Settings that quietly hurt you: maintenance mode left on, error messages shown to visitors, cron not running, updates waiting or update notifications off, the default Drupal favicon, anyone able to make an account, a user called "admin", no https.
  • Images: image fields and media with no alternative text, images in your text with no description, images that don't load, images over plain http, and photos over 500 KB.
  • Links in your published content: links to pages that don't exist on your site, dead links to other websites, leftover test addresses (localhost, staging and DDEV sites), http links to your own https site, "click here" links, links with no words, phone links that won't ring, and email links whose domain can't get email.
  • Facts: pages that give different phone numbers or email addresses.
  • Headings and structure: a second main heading, headings that skip a level, tables without headers, and embedded maps or videos without a title.

A "Check this page" tab on each node checks just that page.

Post-Installation

Go to Reports, PageKiwi and press Check my site. Results are grouped into "Fix first" and "When you can". Give the "Use PageKiwi" permission to any role that should see it (administrators have it already). There's nothing to configure.

Additional Requirements

Drupal 10.3 or newer, including 11 and 12. No other modules, libraries or accounts.

Private by design

PageKiwi reads your own site's configuration, database and files. Links to your own pages are checked against Drupal's own routes, with no requests. To see whether links to other websites still work, your server asks up to 15 of them per check (one quick request each, identifying itself as PageKiwi for Drupal). Nothing is sent to PageKiwi or anyone else, and nothing is added to your visitors' pages.

What it can't do

Automated checks find many common problems, not all of them. PageKiwi helps you get closer to meeting accessibility rules like the ADA and WCAG; it can't promise your site meets them, and it isn't legal advice. Check the official sources, such as ADA.gov and WCAG.
