I would like to be able to subscribe all new users to certain tags. I would like to use the "After a user account has been created..." Trigger in combination with a "Subscribe user to tag..." Action. Is it possible to provide such an Action?

Looking for the same feature...

This might be something worth adding to the Notifications Add-ons module, since it already has the "Custom subscriptions" functionality that sounds like it would jive well with this idea.

Title: Provide Actions for subscriptions » Subscribe new users automatically

I know how to implement this, I just haven't decided where to do it yet. There are a few options:

  • As an Action - this has the advantage of using an existing framework and wouldn't require cluttering the Notifications UI
  • As part of Notifications autosubscribe - since the name at least sounds like this feature, and the functionality is similar
  • As a new module in Notifications Add-ons

Any thoughts on which would be best?

I'm going to postpone this, since I want to see where this issue heads first: #521974: The future of custom subscriptions

Basically, this functionality already exists in Custom Subscriptions, but I would like to be able to auto-subscribe users to more than just custom subscriptions, so I'm trying to gauge what direction that module is headed in before I start duplicating code and functionality.

Is there any news on this? I would like to autosubscribe users to notifications as well.

I am confident that with some revamping of the UI (as described in #521974: The future of custom subscriptions) this functionality can be completely obtained using Custom Subscriptions. I would recommend getting familiar with the autosubscribe functionality in custom subscriptions and following that issue for updates. If anyone is of a different opinion, please re-open this issue.
