I'd like to subscribe all users to a particular content type, and I'd like new users to be automatically subscribed to that content type.

This is a support request as well as a feature request - I've been trying to modify the notifications table in order to subscribe users to a particular content type, but I'm not having much luck. Does anyone have any advice? Are there any other tables that would need to be modified?

Have you considered using Organic Groups for this purpose? e.g. create an Organic Group for all users, set it up so everyone gets notified of all postings by default, then add everyone to it?

Thanks for the suggestion, tobias. I currently use Organic Groups to do just this. I'm actually trying to find a way around doing things this way, since it makes my site more complicated to use.
