Hi

We just gave our site to an end user to try out. The site uses noggin to allow them to upload a header image for the site.

The feedback we recieved was as follows

"The site doesn't upload the image" - When we investigated, the image was uploaded, but the module doesn't do anything with it (like automatically assign it as the header).

So we told them to manually enter the file name.

"It still isn't showing"

So we told them to try "public://name_of_file.jpg".

"That worked".

And then that afternoon

"I just edited my theme settings and it lost the image again"

When we looked into it, the save function removes the "public://" bit from the url.

I know this isn't the greatest bug report but its basically showing that there is a bit of bad UI regarding file uploads and a bug where public:// is stripped from the file name.

Just realized this is a duplicate of - #1789626: Custom image upload does not work which has a patch. Would be really useful to get the patch rolled out as a proper solution (or just more discussion going).
