Apparently I am the only non-developer using drupal on the planet, because I feel like a whopping moron. I installed and enabled this and as far as I can tell nothing has changed on my site. I expected to see someplace in the content section to be able to enter the users who can view a particular node. Nope. No additional tabs or options or anything anywhere as far as I can tell. What should I be seeing and where should I find it? Seems like a stupid question but I don't know where else to ask it. Thanks.

This module attaches itself to "user reference" fields, which are now part of the References project. When you configure such a field, the options for this module will appear. The users are nominated when editing the content, via the user reference field itself.

However, if this isn't obvious to you, I suspect this may not be the right module for you.

If you have no need for a user reference field, but would still like to control access to content, there are other modules more suitable for you, some which use the approach of an extra tab to make it easier to administer:

"Content access", "Nodeaccess", and "Taxonomy Access Control" are popular ones.
Most of these modules use the same Drupal functions to control the access, and can be made to work in conjunction with each other, if you needed multiple ways to grant access for some reason.
