Missing roles in Grant tab

I can't seem to reproduce what you're describing, but please feel free to re-open if you're still having the problem!

Note: Make sure, after creating a new role, you go to the nodeaccess settings and enable the new role:
- Go to /admin/config/people/nodeaccess
- Click "Allowed roles"
- Check the box next to the new role
- (Optional: Scroll down the nodeaccess settings to the ctype in question -- i.e. Basic page -- and check the box next to that same role for "view" or whichever permission.)
- (Save)
- Go to /node/NID/grants and see if the role is there
