Hi, I saw your posting in groups.drupal.org and replied with what I would like to see.

Instead of defining a particular node-type to use in node_widget, another widget, let us call it node_field_widget for now, you define which field to use in other node type(s) to create in the widget. If it did this, it would also solve the issue: #720388: How to select existing nodes.

A refinement to my original reply would to be able to select which of the Content Types the nodereference_field is part of could be referenced and could be created from the parent node.
