Hi,

Setting the layout and content for pages with a tab name work fine e.g. node/1/tabname however, I can't set a layout for the actual node page itself (no tab defined) e.g node/1

Is there a special case for this? Or would I have to edit the pre-defined panel page node/%node as well.

AFAIK there's no page with no tab defined, node/%node will always redirect (with rules) to the first tab. Editing the page for node/%node will affect nodes without a node tab definition.
