I am planning on translating NG3 over the holidays (if another release is out by then). I wanted to ask in advance if major string changes are to be expected before hitting beta. I am making myself familiar with NG3 at the moment and I would wait longer if you told me that major changes are on the horizon.

On a related matter: plupload integration needs at least an alpha release so that we can translate it on localize.drupal.org.

If you're willing to translate, I'm willing to get the strings in at least a "slushy" state :)

I'll create a .pot file so that I can go over the English strings and make sure nothing is glaringly wrong. I'll update this issue once I'm happy with them.

Re: plupload - there's one issue remaining before greggles will mark a beta and recommended version for 6.x. I just haven't had the time to look into it yet.

jfyi: I am testing the complete translation at the moment. If anyone wants a testversion of the German translation feel free to contact me directly. I am waiting for the next non-dev release before I upload my stuff to catch string changes and to further check my work.

I took just a quick glance. I would have never thought that there are sooo many strings in NG.
Really really great work dddave!

Some comments:

2: "Position" might be misleading, as it can be negative etc. The plain translation "Gewichtung" (as you use for Weight) might be better.
3: error: "Bildas"
5: Why the dashes? Perhaps we could plainly say "werden Bilder nach aufsteigendem Gewicht sortiert"? How is this translated in Drupal core?
6: Is it possible that this string is wrong in the english version? The user is choosing gallery types after all, not image types.
8: Wouldn't "Zu" be better than "Zur"?
e.g. 20: Should the module name be translated?
38: What about "Auswahl des Inhaltstyps der für die Galerien in dieser Beziehung verwendet werden soll."
Is "Bildfeld" the proper translation for image field?
Is there a drupal-wide rule on using german compounds in the translation?

I didn't have enough time to check all strings, sorry. Really a tremendous effort. Thank you.

"Weight" is really a problem here. The "official" dictionary at http://localize.drupal.org/node/1263 states "Reihenfolge". I wanted "Gewichtung" but remembered that I got corrected in one of my other translations. But I think I'll change this anyways.

"zu/zur" depends on the situation. I have to find it in use to determine.

6: Perhaps...

Module name translation: Personally I really don't like the translation of module names ("Ansichten"). That said, I did it in NG2 and I only translate Gallery. Dunno what is better here. Looks odd both ways.

"Bildfeld" seems to stay officially as "imagefield". Have to change this.

I'll check my stuff within the next days and provide a new .po file. Feel free to keep the feedback coming.

Just a remark, the numbers are the entry numbers in the .po file. I use "Lokalize" to view/edit .po files. What do you use?

I am using po.edit I think. I am currently not on my system to check. I noticed that my program uses some other line number system.

I'm going to show my i18n ignorance here -- do we need to include anything from the work on this issue in the actual distribution of Node Gallery, or is it all separate? If it needs included, it sounds like it's almost done and I think we should hold up the next beta release until it's complete. If it's a separate deal, then we might as well tag and move on.

All translations are hosted on localize.drupal.org and downloaded from there. I'll upload my translation after your next release when I can check for new strings. And I have to address scroogie`s input.
