Is there any way to upload a set of images in a zip file?

What about through FTP?

ANY way to upload other than adding up to 5 images at a time "manually"?

No, this module stores the uploaded images information in database. if you want to upload images besides the upload interface, you need to write a script to scan those images and save their information into database.

While ZIP uploads is not planned anytime soon, I have committed a setting to dev that allows administrators specify how many upload fields to display on the upload form.
