As has been made clear - there is no intention to create a mouseover effect for child menu items of primary links from the main menu bar of the theme.

Can you provide any pointers in where to implement this in a modified version of the theme as I require this functionality. Which files should be altered and what needs to be done? I'm a complete beginner at Drupal Theme development and would appreciate any tips or pointers

Many thanks,
Stuart

Unfortunately, this isn't going to be all that straightforward if you're new to it.

While working on the D7 version though, I figured out a way I could add this feature to the theme. I've created a feature request for it:

#974662: Convert menu bars into a region that allows menus to be replaced by a block

My priority right now, however, is to get the D7 version ready, but I'll start implementing this feature once I have a stable D7 release.

Fantastic, that's great to hear. Looking forward to getting messy with D7 really soon.
