Could you create d8 tag/branch for this module?

This would be awesome. I'm interested in a D8 module to replace the bespoke hacked together way I did this in 7.

Cause there is no feedback from module author, I will go with a standalone module & put it to the sandbox.

https://www.drupal.org/sandbox/drupality/ext_redirect - sandbox. One question that come to my mind is that whether it should be integrated with Redirect module. Right now it's standalone. Support external and internal redirects. No unit tests yet.

This is a good idea, but if you follow this comparable issue of Redirect, the maintainers will probably not be willing to do so.

I am looking forward for this.

In combination with the Group module, we could use Multisite Redirect to create powerfull Multisites suing Rules.

By far seems to work quite stable.
