The path for the node create forms is different when creating a node inside of a group. I wonder if that messes things up since nothing loads and I get an error message. I'm not sure if the problem is in this module or one of the two dependent ones. I'll look into it some more.

I think this was resolved (API-wise) by #906484: allow alteration of the url within modal_noderef_field_links(), which I committed today.
