Althoug feature of filtering columns/fields from the available list of fields is provided in this module but a very commonly required feature to change the order / placement of the coulumns is not implemented in this module which I think is a basic requirement.

(like weight may be assigned to each column) on the basis of which they are displayed in specified sequence different from the sequence shown in field list.

Oh..
Its isthe members profile from where I can change the order of the columns (but...?) wont it also change the order of the columns on the profile pages too..?

I think I have to choose one and loose the other..

The 'weight' field exists in the database table(profile_fields) and sorting is enabled by 'weight' in members.module:202
So if you edit the values by hand (phpmyadmin) you get your ordered placement

another little hack related to the fields :
use the values from table {i18n_profile_fields} to display the translated text
I included the changed function _member_fields() in the file attachment.

You don't need to alter the table directly to change the weight, you can alter it by editing the profile field in the profile settings.

What about user images (avatars)? I'd like to have them in 1st column and now they are always in last column. They don't have weight property...

vito_swat, be sure to download the newest version and keep an eye on the module in the weeks to come. I'm giving the members module the same functionality as the views module and field-handling is one of these.
