What does the members.module do? I installed it but I don't see a single thing changing?

I want to be able to post a members list to the public and choose what fields to show. Is this what it is supposed to do? The documentation that comes with it is very vague.

members module shows a tabular list of site members. see the 'members' link in the navigation menu, or ?q=members.

no member link showed up so thanks for the shortcut.

Is there any way to access other fields in that member list? ie. i added custom fields for users to enter data when registering - I'd like to publicly list some of that info...

i figured it out - answered my own question. I had to flag those custom fields as public and able to be listed in the member list.
