I love MAYO but I would like to make the desktop layout fixed and can't get it to stop resizing ... for example I have an image in the left sidebar which gets squished when the browser window changes. I've altered the settings to have the width 960px and the sidebars 200px but that doesn't appear to work. Is there something I am missing?

The 7.x-2.0 version is for responsive needs which almost rules out the need for a fixed layout. The older version 7.x-1.3 might be what you need. It has the fixed layout, but not responsive.

I like the responsive layout for smart devices ... but one problem with a responsive layout on the desktop version is the behaviour of images in the sidebar ... being resized so a circle becomes oval etc. Perhaps what I should do is use the old version for desktops and the other for smartphones and tablets.

I installed the 1.3 version on a test site but it appears to me that it has the same problem. It is not fixed - when I resize the browser window it resizes the content ... and in addition it only has one sidebar ... although it appears that blocks that are supposed to go into a second sidebar are moved below the first sidebar.

Can you give a couple of screen captures and all the details like browser, version of drupal or anything that might help me visualize your problem? Remember that a theme is only going to do so much for images. I am using the Picture module to serve responsive images. Try Bartick theme also to make sure that the problem doesn't happen there and that it's unique to MAYO.

Take a look at http://www.etcag.org/ (I loathe the colour combinations but that is what they wanted. Safari, Firefox and Google Chrome all behave the same way with narrower windows.

I would try using % instead of px in layout. Look at the way your image is being displayed in Bartic. Does it do the same there? Look at your "image style" if you are using one. Maybe a "scale" effect happening. To me image handling would be the focus and that would be outside the theme. Think of all the possible image variations available. A theme can't compensate for all of those.

The responsive version (7.x-2.0) is showing over 500 users now without any bugs reported in this area so it makes me think your trouble is outside the theme.

I believe I need to use px if I want a fixed layout?

I tried using height: auto on the image and that appears to have fixed the image problem. Thanks.

I do not regard this problem as completely fixed. I still want to find out how to stop the resizing of the sidebars etc. As I noted above, using the 1.3 version did not do this either. I want my site to be 960px wide with fixed sidebars. I have a couple of sites which contain google maps which do not get resized when the window gets reduced in width. I want that site to remain 960px no matter what width the window is. Is there any way to get Mayo to do this? I really like the theme but this is important to me.
