Having the mappingkit module installed, it adds its javascript to every page regardless of if there are actually any maps shown on that page, which is rather wastefull for bandwidth/page loading speed.

Some modules indeed add some css and js code to all pages. Note that the code for showing maps is not added to all pages. But you're right it can be improved upon.
