At the beginning the complete map is displayed. When a zoom is performed some sections of the map are not rendered raising the message "Error loading images for ...".
Sometimes, when refreshing the page, the site is blocked for a while with a message like:
You don't have permission to access /mappingkit2/ on this server.
Looking in the error.log for apache there are messages like:
[Sat Mar 14 09:09:34 2009] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] client denied by server configuration: /usr/lib/cgi-bin/mapserv, referer: http://myurl/mappingkit2/?q=node/3

I'm also testing pmapper (http://www.pmapper.net/) using the same shape files with none of the problems described.

In the next days I have a meeting with the boss and I need to define my choice between Mapping Kit (that I would prefer) and pmapper.

Thanks for preferring this mapping kit, although my response may come too late.
The error "Error loading images for.." is shown by OpenLayers when it doesn't receive map images when doing map requests to the web map servers. This happens when a wms server is offline, or maybe in your case when the local map server cannot be reached because of a configuration error somewhere?

If the demo map contexts (that can be created on page /?q=admin/mappingkit/mapcontext) show maps, then it should be possible to also show maps from other servers.

Thanks for the answer; it is never too late. :)

The problem I've described is something that happens using mapserver, drupal etc. on the same local machine.
Since it happens "only" using mapping kit in drupal and not with pmapper (with the same maps) I think it is a misconfiguration in my drupal installation.
I have to investigate deeper on this.
