Thanks for the module. Would be interesting to have this module working as a plugin for messaging module.

Are you still interested in this proposal? We have just taken up maintenance of this project and have resumed active support for this module again.

I like this proposal, and there is a new maintainer; I have started playing with notifications framework and messaging, so I will try and provide insight to this;

However, I think that we should stick to making this a feature for the new 6.x branch, and then backport once stable there and consider 5.x feature frozen unless features/patches are back-ported to it.
