what module can we use to provide a webmail interface for this module?

The author of this module has another module called Webmail. They are both listed as being in beta and feature incomplete.

There is another unrelated project called Pontomail Webmail Client that provides a web mail interface, but currently only for Drupal 4.7.

Yes, I forgot to put a link to the webmail module on this project page. Also, I'm re-writing the Mail API module code, too...The api will be a bit simpler and the code will be much cleaner. I'm about 35%-45% done with that, but will likely have it on drupal.org within a couple days...within the next week for sure. The Webmail and IMAP API modules are a bit more work, though, and both will have to be re-written to work with the newer version of this api. Hopefully I can get enough time to get them to a reasonably functional beta form within the next few weeks.

Thanks! I found it not long after I posted that question.

I'm not sure if I've understood correctly what the Mail API does. Is it a set of functions that allow Webmail to provide a web interface into mail stored on a mail server? Could Mail API bre used as a mailing system for newsletters, digests notifications etc? Can webmail be plugged into another mail system such as privatemsg?

How does Mail API relate to private msg? Is there any corssover in functionality? Could they be integrated? How?

I started this project with the idea for it to be used as part a webmail client. I haven't put any thought into how it could be used for newsletters or to be integrated with privatemsg or anything like that. To me, the only purpose of this module is to provide an abstraction layer for accessing email on a mail server and sending emails out through smtp servers. It's something that could be used by school's and small/medium businesses to provide a web-based way for staff to access their email. However, I'm open to making it work with any other module that makes sense for it to work with. I decided to create this abstraction layer to allow for people to be able to choose or create their own interface to use that may offer various levels of functionality, and to allow for different protocol modules to be use, depending on what type of mail server they're using...even if they wrote some crazy custom mail server, they can just write a module that implements the hooks called by this mail_api module, and then be able to access their mail from within drupal.

Great! Thanks for your feedback. It looks like a lot of this might be useful for a project I'm working on...
