I am trying to create a view that will produce a list of users including some of their profile fields with a proximity search on Location:postal code. I'm encountering two issues:

1) Even though I have the US zipcode table uploaded, Location:postal code is not an available argument in Views (either trying a User view or a Location View).

2) I can only get the profile fields in a User View. Can a proximity search be done with a User view?

Thanks.

there is a lot of work on the proximity searches (and trying to get a new release out)
Please try these patches and comment if they work for your case:
#606342: Views Argument Handler for Proximity
#718928: add options to set coordinates w/ user location, PHP code for field, filter

Sorry for the delay in my response. I've applied the two patches linked above to location modules on two separate drupal sites I'm building now. My update:

1) I can now use Location:postal code and Location: distance/proximity as fields in the view. I can also created a Location:distance/proximity filter (following the steps here http://drupal.org/node/359463). However, I get no results when I test the view. Only the exposed postal code and distance fields display. I have added in postal data to selected user accounts and I have the zipcode database installed, too.

2) Location views still do not allow me to select Profile fields for display.

Please let me know if what I'm reporting is unclear. Thanks for your help.

Version: 6.x-3.x-dev » 6.x-3.1

6.x-3.1 solved my problem with user zip code proximity search. Thanks!

I'd like to repeat a helpful tip from another poster. In views, the preview for the proximity search does not show results, but testing a view with through its path works quite nicely.
