Possible to use locpick AND have blank lat/long fields?

I need locpick's functionality, but sometimes you don't want a map on a node. The only way to remove it is to manually clear the lat/long fields prior to saving. The fields are populated with the default center coords from gmap's config. Is it possible to have locpick load normally AND have cleared lat/long fields? I went after it, tried a number of strategies, but came up short.
