So for the following address (8218 NE Glisan, Portland, OR 97220) the following lat/long coordinates are generated.

45.546205 -122.560270

But when you map these coordinates via the gmap module, the resulting pointer is about a mile off from the actual location.

Can't fix discreprencies between the public geocoder and the maps.google.com geocoder.
