It would be nice if the mod didn't produce unnecessary or unattractive wording such as

weblinks top level categories

links in this category and its subcateories

This is not something one cares to see in an public view, having an option to put our own custom headers would be a good thing

I agree, it would be a very useful feature. However this can be bodged by editing the appropriate lines in the links_weblink.module - I changed "Weblinks Top Level" to "Directory Top Level" to suit my purposes.
