I have a very basic question:
I've added Link 6.x-2.6 to a custom content type called "Monthly Events". Then I created two link fields. One for "Next Month" which links to the next month and the other for "Previous Month" which links to the previous month.

It currently displays the "next Month" link above "Previous Month" All I want to do now is make the "Next Month" link display on the right side of the page and "Previous Month" to display on the left side of the page.

How do I do this? Is that what the "Additional CSS Class" field is for? If so, how do I use it? Where would the CSS class come from and how exactly would I enter this value in the field?

You can use the "Additional CSS Class" setting for this. In your "Next month" link, you could specify next-month as an additional CSS class. Then, you can customize the position of the links in the page using CSS, based on the additional CSS class selector.

The code generated for the link looks like this:

<div class="field field-type-link field-field-next-month">
  <div class="field-item odd">
    <a class="next-month" href="http://example.com">Next month</a>
  </div>
</div>

In your CSS just add:

.field-type-link .next-month {
/* your styles */
}
