Check for Duplicate

Hi,
is it possible to check if the submittet link is already in the Database?

If not, is it possible to patch the modul to check for duplicates or is it possible to build an aditional modul for CCK Link modul wich check for duplicate and perhaps give an alert and render a link to the node with the the same unique URL?

Any Help much apprichiated.
