With the D6 version I used to be able to have a user add a company to the website and one of the fields was company website.
For the website field I use the link field. For example they would enter www.irpconstruction.com and then this would make a link that would take someone who clicks it to irpconstruction's actual website.

In D7 it keeps trying to find it within my website the path looks like this: http://deens.localhost/www.irpconstruction.com

Instead of using my path, I want it to read it as an external website like it did for me in D6.

Am I missing a setting? is it because I'm working on my website locally?

Yes, this is a duplicate of #1043348: Link to www.* does not translate to http://www.* - thanks for the note, but I'm closing this as a duplicate.

I've got a partial solution into code, but I need to make more changes before I can release an alpha4, which I hope to do by this weekend.
