It is possible to preview the breakpoint, within a popup. However the preview is a live copy of the page, and as such, you can click the preview button again, and another popup will appear inside the first, and so on.
I don't believe that we would want this behavior. Can the preview not be made to be static/un-selectable.

@jessebeach just added the latest mobile preview module to Spark 7.x. This should be much more bulletproof: http://drupal.org/project/responsive_preview - the layout module does include an older version of the preview concept which should be removed entirely in favor of this new functionality. Retitling for that. Going to work on solving this one. It will let us remove some good old code :)

Done! I'll also create a new tagged release of the module. Nobody should attempt to use the old responsive preview anymore.
